Biophytum Sensitivum is also known as the 'mini palm tree plant' for obvious reasons. It is naturally grows in wetlands and riparian areas of Asia, and hence likes lots of moisture and humidity.
The leaves of this plant fold downwards in response to light and touch (although, the touch response will only occur once a plant is happy and acclimated, and even then, it's slow and subtle). This plant likes bright indirect light and warm, humid conditions. These conditions coupled with its small size make it an ideal terrarium plant.
We've found these plants are not fussed about the medium they're growing in. They do extremely well in sphagnum moss, but will also thrive in hydroponic mediums (their very fine roots will even happily grow in leca). Mature Biophytum Sensitivum plants will literally shoot their seeds around their environment, so we find regularly find them growing in pots alongside other plants - even in our very coarse anthurium mix.
The plant you see pictured here is a representation of the plant you will receive, and it will be sent in its pot. A pen is included in selected photos to give you an indication of scale and plant size.
